PE and Athletic Director - Teaching Position

School District 10 (Arrow Lakes) has the following continuing contract teaching position effective starting the 2024-2025 school year as follows:

Position: PE 8-12 Teacher and Athletic Director

School: Nakusp Secondary School

FTE: 1.0 FTE Continuing Contract

Effective: September 3, 2024

Salary Range: $63,192 - $112,685

School District 10, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative educator and have a great team of principals/vice principals, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community for you to work alongside. The successful candidate is someone who is committed to helping us achieve our purpose.

Required characteristics/ strengths include:

a) Successful secondary PE and Health Education teaching experience

b) Major in Physical Education, Sport Science or Kinesiology at the university level

c) Demonstrated exemplary skills and experience implementing technology to support learning and teaching

d) Exemplary use of assessment for learning strategies that engage and foster learning

e) Experience integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning into teaching practice

f) Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners with the ability to differentiate for all learners

g) Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning, self-regulated learning, in the classroom and beyond

h) Strong interpersonal skills. and strengths working in a team environment including experience in co-planning and co-teaching

i) Commitment to implementing the School Growth Plan

j) Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community

k) Embodiment of lifelong learning, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth

l) Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs will be an asset
