We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Golden Horn Elementary School team. GHES is located within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. We value experiential/place based learning on the land and inside the classroom. We strive to use the best research-driven teaching methods that foster learner agency and student-led learning experiences .

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education
- Hold a current Canadian teacher’s certification or be eligible to hold a Canadian certification;
- Recent classroom teaching experience and/or Teacher Candidate Practicum experience in primary grades;
- Experience with delivering play-based/experiential instruction;
- Experience with formative assessment strategies throughout the teaching/learning process;
- Experience with emergent literacy and foundational numeracy;
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of First Nations people and a culturally diverse student population;
- Ability to support social-emotional learning in the classroom;
- Ability to plan, deliver and assess curriculum in a multigrade classroom;
- Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, staff and the school community;
- Experience integrating outdoor experiential learning into instruction;
- Experience/willingness to integrate student-centered, emergent curriculum pedagogy into teaching practice;
- Experience incorporating First Nations ways of knowing, doing and being into curriculum programming;
- Ability to support social-emotional learning and restorative practices in the classroom and school setting;
- Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills;
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process
- Yukon First Nations 101, to be completed at your first opportunity.
