F.H. Collins Secondary School is currently seeking a passionate French Immersion educator to join our dynamic learning community. F.H.C is a dual-track English/French Immersion school serving approximately 800 students in grades 8 through 12. We provide students with a diverse range of academic, athletic performance, outdoor/experiential, trades, and arts programs. We are proud of our strong academic programming, cultural diversity, and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.

Located in the capital city of Whitehorse, Yukon, F.H.C sits alongside the Yukon River on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. Our school continuously works to honour First Nations ways of knowing, doing, and being, and we value our deep connections with families and the broader community.

Start Date: August 20, 2026

End Date: June 12, 2027

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education, with university courses in Sciences and/or Maths
  • Fully fluent in English & French
  • Recent secondary school experience teaching in French
  • Recent experience teaching mathematiques / sciences at the secondary level
  • Recent experience with differentiated instruction and principles of inclusion
  • Recent experience using competency-based instruction and evaluation

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills, and knowledge, and also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture:

  • Demonstrated experience using manipulatives and experiential learning in maths and sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to teach secondary courses/ classes in both English and French
  • Recent experience incorporating a wide range of formative and summative assessment tools; and teaching a standards-based / competency based curriculum
  • Strong classroom management, planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively and collaboratively with students, staff and the school community
  • Experience working with, and effectively supporting, students with learning difficulties
  • Experience incorporating indigenous ways of knowing and doing into science
  • A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population
  • French Language level C1 desired

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
  • Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process
