We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Jack Hulland Elementary School team. JHES acknowledges and respects, and are grateful for the opportunity to work, learn and play within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. Jack Hulland Elementary is a Kindergarten to Grade 7 neighbourhood school aiming to foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive educational environment; one where each student is supported to meet their full potential . This position provides an opportunity to work as a Temporary 1.0 FTE Learning Assistance Teacher at JHES for the duration of the 2025/2026 school year and duties include: implementation, ongoing development, and regular review of Individual Education Plans (IEP), case management, implementation, and ongoing intervention for English Language Learners (ELL), and providing a safe, welcoming, decolonized, and regulatory environment for all JHES students. JHES is a Ready to Learn School, using the Neurosequential Model in Education to drive our practice.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education
- Undergraduate and/or post graduate course work in child development, special education and individualized instruction;
- Recent teaching experience (1+ years) as a Learning Assistance Teacher;
- Recent experience (2+ years) working with students who are English Language Learners (ELL);
- Teaching experience working with student Individual Educational Plans, Student Learning Plans, Behavioural Support Plans, and Safety Plans;
- Knowledge, skills, and/or training related to the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) informed practice is an asset;
- Instructional leadership certification and a willingness to mentor teachers to improve their practice is an asset.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations people and a culturally diverse student population
- Successful implementation of effective instructional practices when working with student Individual Educational Plans and Behavioural Support Plans
- The ability to apply assessment for, as and of student learning within an IEP
- Ability to provide positive intervention in a developmentally responsive way
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with students, Educational Assistants, families, administration, other staff members, and consultants
- Ability to support targeted intervention with students by utilizing diagnostic assessments and scaffold interventions based on data
- Ability to work as a member of a professional team and willingness to participate in the total school program
- Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team and to promote, support and work collaboratively with all staff on school initiatives within the total school program;
- Willingness to support the philosophy, values and beliefs of the school and to support the school growth plan;
