The Yukon Government is seeking a dedicated and innovative Lead Numeracy Specialist Teacher to support the development of high-quality numeracy instruction across our classrooms. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, administrators, and curriculum staff to enhance student learning and achievement in literacy for grades K-12 students.

This position is ideal for an experienced educator who is passionate about numeracy, and driving instructional improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization in mathematics education or numeracy
  • Possession of a Master’s Degree or post-graduate coursework in mathematics education, numeracy, or related fields is an asset
  • Certification or training in recognized numeracy intervention programs considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience with a focus on numeracy or mathematics at the primary or intermediate levels
  • Experience working in collaborative and professional learning environments
  • Experience implementing diverse numeracy interventions and differentiated instruction strategies
  • Experience coaching educators in numeracy instruction and data-informed practices
  • Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with teachers, administrators, and curriculum staff
  • Demonstrated leadership in numeracy teaching, coaching, and support
  • Ability to analyze and apply student learning data to support instructional planning and improvement
  • Skilled in designing and delivering professional development (e.g., workshops, in-services) related to numeracy
  • Commitment to inclusive education and equity in student learning outcomes
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Yukon First Nations cultures and the needs of culturally-diverse learners
  • A flexible, team-oriented approach to problem-solving and collaboration

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
