OSSTF - Electronic Resource Technician/SEA Assistant

One (1) Temporary Full Time Position (35 hpw)



Effective Date: December 9, 2025 until June 2026

Salary: OSSTF_PSSP 1a $37.97 - $39.69 (per hour plus vacation pay)

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Education - Exceptional Learners and the regular direction of the Computer Assistive Technologist, the Electronic Resource Technician/SEA Assistant supports and assists students and school staff in the use of various assistive technologies under the Special Equipment Amount program.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist students and school staff in the use various assistive technologies to support the curriculum
  • Demonstrate to students how to navigate through various software programs to support student learning.
  • Assist teacher and student access to required curriculum books and documents in alternative formats.
  • Monitor, schedule and track request for training sessions requested by students and teachers.
  • Retrieve, scan and edit books and documents and convert into alternative formats ensuring that any copying and distributing of electronic text is in compliance with copyright laws.
  • Maintain the Board’s E-library, including the cataloguing of resources and formatting digital pictures and videos converting into alternative formats as required.
  • Assist and support the SEA team with new technology initiatives at the Board.
  • Present workshops for parents and school staff in support of assistive technologies as required.



Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma related to children and youth with exceptionalities
  • 2 or more years previous experience working with children and assistive technologies in schools
  • Solid knowledge of Google Apps for Education, Read&Write for Google, Mindomo, Kurzweil, Inspiration, WordQ, and Dragon Naturally Speaking.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Superb organizational and time management skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Adobe
  • Use of vehicle for travel between schools
