Building Department
16-Week Term
We are currently recruiting for student drafting students to join our multidisciplinary team of Architects, Civil Engineers and Construction/Electrical/Mechanical Managers to assist with the day-to-day needs of the department while gaining valuable experience.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Update existing architectural, mechanical and electrical master plans of Division buildings. To perform these duties, the student will research existing contract drawings and file records and visit building sites in order to obtain information to produce computer generated drawings with attribute documented information.
- Update existing site plans of Division property. To perform these duties the student will research existing land titles, contract drawings, and file records and will visit sites in order to obtain accurate information to produce computer generated drawings.
- Transfer data from the Division's facility data base into new Excel based spreadsheet format.
- Scan existing documents and electronic filing of digital data to an electronic based file storage system.
Qualifications:
- Training in a recognized architectural, mechanical, electrical and/or building technology program.
- Knowledge and training in the use of AutoCAD 18 LT for Windows.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5F Driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Clear Child Abuse Registry check and satisfactory Police Information check with a vulnerable sector search.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail.
