École George V School is a dual-track French Immersion school serving students from Nursery to Grade 8. It offers both English programming (Nursery to Grade 6) and French Immersion programming (Kindergarten to Grade 8). Located in the Elmwood area, the school serves approximately 250 students.
Central to the school's philosophy is the commitment to support and meet students where they are. Inspired by the Circle of Courage-Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity-we believe students learn best when they feel a strong sense of belonging, purpose, and pride in who they are. École George V School aims to create a learning environment where students feel connected, supported, and empowered to take charge of their learning. Additionally, moving forward, the school will emphasize Murray Sinclair's Four Guiding Questions to help students reflect on their identity, dreams, purpose, and personal strengths. By honouring each student's story and creating space for growth, we are focusing on building a school community where everyone can thrive.
École George V School strives to promote inclusion, respect, and collaboration in everything it does. Staff, students, and community members work together to foster a positive, safe, and welcoming school climate. Professional development for staff remains a priority, with a strong focus on enhancing capacity and implementing high-impact practices in literacy and numeracy programming, while also strengthening assessment for learning practices.
The Parent Advisory Council currently operates the lunch program, and the school is in the process of transitioning to a no-fee lunch program.
