Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager, develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic and recreational activities all Residents based upon individual need; assesses Resident’s progress by developing client-centered goals; works with volunteers and community groups; maintains accurate records and statistical data.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent
Therapeutic Recreation Facilitator for Older Adults Certificate or its equivalent in recreation certification, experience and training.
Experience in program planning and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong knowledge of Activity Pro considered an asset
Certificate in Safe Food Handling required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and evaluates all therapeutic and recreational activities designed to meet the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual well-being of Residents based on individually identified needs.
Evaluates progress of assigned Residents, ensuring participation rate is satisfactory, and establishes client-centered goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and can be achieved in a timely fashion using a suitably identified intervention.
Maintains Resident records according to department policy, keeping leisure care plan and integrated progress notes up to date.
Provides supervision and supportive leadership to volunteers and students.
Completes and maintains accurate program procedures while maintaining a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for Residents.
Participates in monthly departmental planning meeting and as a member of the interdisciplinary team in weekly Care Conferences as required/assigned.
Responsible for maintenance of pet programs and upkeep of in-facility pets.

Physical Requirements
Moderate to heavy physical effort required
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
