Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Physical Plant Manager, the incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of electrical, electronic and mechanical repairs, maintenance and installation functions on all types of laundry equipment, with the main focus being on electrical/electronics. Responsible for responding to emergency calls, setting priorities and making repairs as required. Performs and documents preventative maintenance as required.
Experience
  • Must have a minimum of five years previous electrical, electronic and mechanical experience in the industrial maintenance field.
  • Experience in a production environment involving production equipment and building maintenance preferred.
  • Experience working in a Millwright and/or Power Engineering capacity preferred.
  • Experience in the maintenance of laundry equipment an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Must be qualified as a Journeyman Electrician.
  • Additional education and/or training in industrial electrical/electronics, as recognized by the Centre, preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License required.
  • Current and valid Manitoba drivers license required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must have excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be knowledgeable in different types of valves, including powered operated valves and remote solenoids, and understand their general application.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to withstand short periods of strenuous activity.
  • Entrance into confined spaces and working on ladders or platforms is common.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (eg. half face respirators, fall protection harnesses, work gloves, hearing protection and steel toe safety shoes).
  • Must be able to work overtime, on weekends, rotating shifts and be able to change shifts as required to complete maintenance tasks when necessary, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
