Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the COO, Provincially Coordinated Health Services, Lead and manage the Provincial Pharmacy Shared Service.

Provincial Pharmacy Operations: Manage and oversee Provincial pharmacy operations and any provincially contracted pharmacy operations for the public health system.

Lead and coordinate pharmacy services through the Shared Service team to support the provincial pharmacy and the SDO pharmacy programs with effective and responsive services that enable innovative and sustainable health services in the area of drug supply, technology and provincial clinical and quality standards.

Experience
  • 10 years of progressive experience in management in a large enterprise, preferably in a health-care setting including:
    • 5 years of senior management experience including leading services planning, developing and implementing approved operating plans, and;
    • 5 years of experience building and managing a large, interdisciplinary team preferably in the areas of pharmacy operations, drug supply and technology, and/or clinical or quality standards development.
    • Previous experience managing a Shared Service is an asset.
    • Experience in volume purchasing and drug management is considered an asset.
    • Leadership experience managing regulated health care professionals.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree in Pharmacy is required.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as health administration, business administration, or finance from an accredited educational institution is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be an active member in good standing of a pharmacy regulatory body.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the province.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated comprehensive senior leadership capabilities. Shared Health has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy structures and operating models, day to day operations and standard policies and practices is an asset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of transformation within the health system.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Travel to other health care facilities throughout the province requiring a valid driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions from executives, and partner organizations are common; incumbent must be able to schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration.
  • May be required to be accessible during irregular or off hours.
