Position Overview

The Manitoba health system has seven health service delivery organizations (SDOs) across the province to serve the health needs of our population including Cancer Care Manitoba, the Northern Regional Health Authority, the Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority, Southern Health-Santé Sud, Prairie Mountain Health, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Shared Health.

We have opportunities for executive director health services with two of our SDOs. The executive directors will ensure effective health services delivery, provide clinical oversight and direction to staff in the integrated delivery of routine to complex health services, and inspire and lead health services staff in their assigned services areas to embrace and adopt integrated, patient-centered care pathways and service delivery models, and drive quality and patient safety improvements. The areas of focus for the current roles including acute and inpatient care, ambulatory care and clinical support, and community health services. The operational budgets in these areas range from $275 to 475 million, and the staff teams range from 1000 to 4500 unionized and exempt employees in clinical and administrative roles.

Experience
  • 10 years of progressive management experience leading a broad spectrum of health services in a large, publically-funded health services delivery organization with a tertiary hospital including:
    • 7 years of clinical operations management experience leading a health service providing multidisciplinary services including acute, critical care and medicine.
    • 7 years of experience participating in operational planning, implementing operational directives, and achieving formal quality, patient safety, service integration and partner collaboration goals and objectives.
    • 7 years of direct clinical services delivery.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant health discipline from an accredited education institution.
  • A postgraduate degree is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated senior leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
  • Travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
