Position Overview

Under the day-to-day operational direction of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) Program Director - Indigenous Health Services, and general accountability to the WRHA Regional Director - Indigenous Health Programs, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of the WRHA, the Indigenous Patient Site Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Indigenous Health Services program on site, planning and coordinating health and human services affecting Indigenous patients; participating in Regional WRHA Indigenous Health Services Program activities and other duties as assigned.

Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory/administrative experience working with the Indigenous community in a healthcare related field.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or relevant social science discipline.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the above.

  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of current and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of and working familiarity with services of government departments and agencies and organizations providing assistance to Indigenous people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture.
  • Ability to interact well with other healthcare professionals, all levels of staff, and patients and families.
  • Demonstrated planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Mature, professional manner.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
