Location: Catholic Education Center, 255 Speedvale Ave. W.

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Schedule: 34.5 hours per week

8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30am-4:00pm Friday

Non-Affiliated Grade 5: Step 1 $74,403 - Step 5 $93,003



The successful candidate will report to the Executive Superintendent and have responsibility for providing human resources services to support staff, Principals/Vice-Principals, Managers and Supervisors for an assigned portfolio of employee groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Lead and embed equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles across all HR strategies and organizational practices, fostering a culture of belonging and ensuring fair and inclusive recruitment, development, and retention processes.

· Coordinate recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes, including job postings, interviews, offers, and orientation.

· Develop and update job posting templates, interview guides, and reference check questions.

· Forecast staffing needs and contribute to recruitment strategies.

· Represent the Board at job fairs and lead outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Recruitment Coordinator.

· Provide strategic advice on performance management, labour relations, HR policies, and legislative compliance.

· Support Principals, Managers, and Senior Administration in resolving employee conflicts and performance issues.

· Advise on disciplinary actions and draft related correspondence.

· Maintain positive relationships with union leaders and participate in grievance and arbitration processes.

· Contribute to collective bargaining by preparing proposals, maintaining records, and supporting negotiations.

· Participate in joint labour-management and staffing committees, including agenda setting and follow-up coordination.

· Assist in developing and implementing HR and Board policies, including those related to hiring, discipline, and background checks.

· Maintain and verify employee records in the HRIS and ensure data accuracy.

· Oversee implementation and enhancement of HR systems (e.g., recruitment platforms, performance appraisal tools).

· Review and validate HR and payroll data entered by the HR Clerk.

· Manage position and FTE control in alignment with Finance department allocations.

· Communicate daily with employees and supervisors on HR-related matters.

· Perform other duties as assigned.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree in Human Resources or Labour Relations, or a combination of related experience and post-secondary HR education/training.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation from HRPA, or actively pursuing it.
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a unionized setting, including staffing, labour relations, compensation, policy development, and strategic HR advisory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation (e.g., Education Act, Labour Relations Act, ESA, MFIPPA, Human Rights Code, Pay Equity) and its practical application.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on confidentiality, diplomacy, conflict resolution, and collaborative relationship-building across all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and to lead projects effectively.
  • Skilled in identifying process improvements that enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Excellent analytical, research, communication, and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other web-based platforms.
