100% PERMANENT SOCIAL WORKER
Assignment: Student Mental Health Services Team
Location: Itinerant
Start Date: To be determined
34.5 hours per week
(Monday-Thursday 8:30 am- 4:30 pm, Friday 8:30 am- 4:00 pm)
Annual Salary Range: Step 1: $72, 444 - Step 6: $99, 390 (Sept 1, 2025 rates)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Wellington Catholic District School Board has an opportunity available for a Social Worker to be assigned to the Student Mental Health Services team. Supervised by the Mental Health Lead and Senior Manager of Mental Health Services,the successful candidate will provide a wide variety of services that support the specialized treatment and care for students with moderate to severe mental health concerns.
The Social Worker will provide individual and group interventions (in person and virtually) to students in elementary and secondary who are struggling with significant social, emotional, or mental health challenges, that are impacting their ability to function, learn and do well in school. This assignment is itinerant, although there are assigned school sites, they may be supporting students from any school within the Board's district.
In addition, all Social Workers provide tragic response/crisis intervention support to schools, participate in staff capacity building by providing professional development for staff, support student mental health promotion activities, and assume other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
The Following Skills and Experience is Required:
- A Master of Social Work degree with registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Work
- Graduate training in clinical interviewing and evidence-informed interventions with children and youth
- Experience providing various evidenced-based treatment modalities (CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT strategies, etc.,) to children and youth
- A minimum of three years of experience working with children and youth with social, emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health concerns
- Knowledge and experience of providing high quality anti-oppressive, culturally responsive and identity affirming care to children and youth
- Experience assessing social, emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team within a school setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in educational settings
- Skills in motivational interviewing, collaborative problem-solving, conflict resolution, and/or restorative justice practices
- Experience leading in-service training or making public presentations would be an asset.
- Outstanding candidates will be familiar with the mental health and other services for children, youth, and families, in the Guelph-Wellington area.
This position involves travel to schools within the Board, and therefore the successful candidate must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license.
