Applications from employees of the Waterloo Region District School Board as well as external applicants will be considered. **Current Secondary Contract teachers and Secondary Occasional Teachers on the Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster will be considered first.
The Waterloo Region District School Board is inviting applications for Continuing Education Re-Engagement for one teaching vacancy who are able to support in one or the following secondary subject areas:
English
Mathematics
Science
Co-operative Education
This position will support and mentor adult students (18+) who have withdrawn and disengaged from school. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Continuing Education Re-Engagement Team and support students in attaining the necessary requirements to graduate, including the delivery of courses and mPLAR [maturity Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition]. The successful candidate will report to the System Administrator and VP of Rosemount Family of Schools.
Qualifications:
- A current Certificate of Qualification and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers in the assigned subject or subjects in order to be eligible to apply to this posting
- A minimum of two years teaching experience at the time of the interview
- Candidates must also hold a qualification at the time of application in Guidance and Career Education and/or Special Education
- Knowledge and understanding of equitable conditions for learning for all students
- Knowledge in aspects of Co-operative Education, Dual Credits, Specialist High Skills Major, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, and mPLAR
- Demonstrated ability to be organized, meet deadlines and use technology effectively to support student learning
- Demonstrated ability to build trusting productive relationships with students through strong interpersonal skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be innovative, collaborative and creative when problem-solving and planning with colleagues
- Candidates must have knowledge of current Ministry of Education resources, demonstrated commitment to on-going professional learning, demonstrated skills in using Assessment for Learning Principles, demonstrated knowledge of the various ways graduation requirements can be met.
Hours of Work:
- Hours of work will be determined in consultation with the System Administrator and VP of Rosemount Family of Schools
- There are positions available for outside the school day hours which may include both Saturday and Sunday
- Minimum 3 hours per week, maximum of 15 hours per week
Remuneration:
- The Credit Re-Engagement Teacher will be paid $62.71/h (exclusive of vacation). All statutory deductions will be taken from the total income.
