Position: Recreation & Leisure Animator
Duration 8 to 12 weeks (Full-time, 30–35 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 35 hours per week
Remuneration: $17 per hour

Grace Village is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation and Leisure Animator to join our team this summer through the Canada Summer Jobs program!


As a Recreation and Leisure Animator, you will be an integral part of our Recreation and Leisure team, working directly with our residents to plan, organize, and deliver engaging group and one-on-one activities. You will contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life of our senior residents through meaningful programs and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate activities for designated resident groups and individuals.
  • Support large-scale events and celebrations.
  • Set up, clean up, and maintain activity spaces and materials.
  • Help coordinate resident outings and virtual visit facilitation.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and resident feedback initiatives.
  • Work closely with volunteers, special guests, and musicians for special programming.
  • Contribute photos and stories for Grace Village communications.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Special Care Counselling, Community Development, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Special Care Counselling background is considered a strong asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in working with older adults.
  • Ability to adapt to varying resident needs with creativity and empathy.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs and work flexible hours (including some evenings or weekends).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable using technology.

Eligibility:

  • Must meet Canada Summer Jobs program criteria:
    • Be between 15–30 years old at the start of employment.
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection.
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
