Come work as a Clinical Academic Women’s Heart Health Cardiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Vancouver Division of Cardiology invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with special expertise in women’s heart health. This individual is expected to pursue an academic career based on research and education. This position is primarily based at Vancouver General Hospital in conjunction with a potential clinical role at St. Paul’s Hospital, both of which are University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospitals.

This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of the UBC Department of Medicine.

The Division operates an academic practice plan, which the successful candidate is expected to contribute to, and be eligible to receive a supplementary stipend for exceptional academic contribution. Apply today to join our team!

As a Clinical Academic Women’s Heart Health Cardiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Support the Leslie Diamond Women’s Heart Health Centre as a principal commitment in addition to general cardiology coverage at either or both St. Paul’s and Vancouver General Hospitals.
  • Commit at least 30% of your time to education and/or research in the field of women’s heart health and the remaining 70% to clinical work.
  • Substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and teaching programs.
Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • FRCPC in Internal Medicine.
  • A Certificate of Special Competence in Cardiology.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Completed training in a women’s heart health program (ideally in a recognized international fellowship program).
  • Preference will be given to those with an interest in education scholarship and/or research in women’s heart health.
  • Candidates with additional other expertise will also be considered depending on the needs of the Division.

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication and teaching skills.
  • A demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • A proven record of excellence in teaching.
  • A strong track record of being able to work well in teams.
