School Counsellor

School counsellor ( 0.4 FTE ) The school counsellor will provide one-on-one and small group counselling for students and will provide programming to educate students on overall well-being. Specific duties: Perform short term counselling and crisis intervention for students as neededProvide programming to educate students regarding well-being issuesConsult with teachers and explore possible strategies and solutions for the concerns that arise to support studentsMaintain confidential records of interactions with studentsGuidance for teachers in identifying students who may require additional support and interventionIdentify areas of concern with students and develop strategies to improve the interactions between studentsTo implement restorative justice procedures following discipline incidentsTo meet regularly with the counselling team and school base teamTo act as a coordinated and integrated support team to meet individual needsTo act as a coordinated and integrated support team to meet group or grade level needsTo facilitate communication with parents from the integrated support team to offer consistent and coordinated advice in supporting their childrenQualifications: Masters in Counselling or equivalentRegistered Counsellor, RCC or CCCTeaching experience, certified teacher will be an assetChristian counselling or perspective courses will be an assetSalary range Anticipated full-time teacher salary range for 2024/25: $56,016 - $100,902(Dependent on education, qualifications, and experience; pro-rated for part-time employees)Application: To express your interest in joining our team please provide us with the following documents: Cover letter and full resumeStatement of faithTranscripts from all relevant post-secondary education Reports/evaluations:Recent graduates (up to two years of counselling experience in a school setting) require final Practicum Reports3 professional references-email and phone numbersRecent graduates (up to two years of counselling experience in a school setting) to include your Faculty Advisor, School Advisor(s) and one or more of the following: Principal, Vice Principal or most recent previous employerExperienced counsellors (two or more years of counselling experience in a school setting) to include current Principal, Vice Principal and previous Administrator(s)Please email your application package to employment@vancs.org with School counsellor in the subject line.
