THE OPPORTUNITY

The UGDSB is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Digital Support Services team for a permanent full-time opportunity in the capacity of Cloud Systems Administration Specialist - Microsoft.

Location: Guelph Board Office (500 Victoria Road N, Guelph, ON)

FTE and Hours: 1.0 FTE; 35 hours per week

Base Hourly Pay Rate: $30.93 - $37.66 per hour; wage rate effective September 1, 2025

Labour Market Adjustment: A 24% labour market adjustment to be applied to the base hourly pay rate; hourly pay rate inclusive of the market adjustment is $38.35 - $46.70 per hour; wage rate effective September 1, 2025

Note: Labour market adjustment may fluctuate based on local market and at discretion of the Board

Reporting to the Manager of ICT Infrastructure, the Cloud Systems Administration Specialist - Microsoft is responsible for administering, supporting, and optimizing the organization's Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education and on-premises environments. This includes managing Identity and Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Secrets Management platforms to ensure secure and efficient access to systems and data. The role involves technical administration across cloud and hybrid infrastructure, including Google Cloud, Azure, Active Directory, messaging, and printing services.

The Cloud Systems Administration Specialist also develops and maintains automation scripts and tools, provides advanced Tier-2 technical support, and resolves complex issues within an IT service management framework. Additionally, the role includes continuous infrastructure monitoring, supporting disaster recovery and incident response efforts, delivering training and awareness programs, and mentoring junior team members to enhance overall IT service delivery.

Responsibilities:

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Degree / Diploma in Computer Engineering, Electric Engineering, or another related technical field with 3 years of appropriate experience; or 5 years combined education and/or experience deemed equivalent by the board. Post Secondary Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as Global Administrator, identity and access management (IAM), systems management, IT service management (ITSM), virtual environments, Disaster Recovery, and Tier-2 ICT support.
  • 3+ years of experience as Global Administrator, Azure Entra ID and Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • 3+ years experience as Global Administrator, Google Workspace administration, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Classroom, and Google Meet.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint Online and Windows server, desktop, macOS and ChromeOS operating systems.
  • Experience in continuously monitoring cloud platforms for security threats and vulnerabilities using security tools and services.
  • Experience in administering and enforcing security policies and procedures for Microsoft 365, Azure, and Google Workspace cloud platforms.
  • Skilled in managing user access, identity lifecycle (provisioning/de-provisioning), MFA/SSO, IAM policy enforcement, and role-based access control.
  • Proficient in supporting endpoints and virtual infrastructure, scripting (GAM, PowerShell, BASH), and using IaC tools. Experienced in applying DevOps practices for automation and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and CIS Controls. Experienced in IT/data center infrastructure projects and vendor support coordination.
  • Strong expertise with incident response and forensic analysis, complex issue resolution, system integration, bug fixing, and proactive system optimization.
  • Experienced in leading IT and infrastructure projects. Skilled in multitasking, time management, and delivering results on schedule.
  • Knowledgeable in cybersecurity regulations and experienced in audit coordination and conducting security assessments.
  • Skilled in creating technical documentation, delivering training programs, maintaining licensing records, and mentoring Tier 1/2 support staff.
  • Certificates such as Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+ , Google Certified Professional Collaboration Engineer, Google Certified Administrator preferred.
  • Proficient in enterprise IT operations with expertise in TOPdesk, Intune, Google Workspace, Microsoft Defender, PowerShell, Power Platform, email security, Azure Site Recovery, Veeam, Hyper-V, Azure Arc, Ansible, Terraform, CyberArk, Keeper Security, Google Vault, and PSADT.
