Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Academic, the Senior Manager, Student Experience (SMSE) is the primary role responsible for optimizing the overall student experience in programs delivered by OAC and its academic units. The MSE will bring together curricular, co-curricular, and social aspects directly associated with the delivery of an academic program as one product. The student experience mandate must ultimately contribute to enhanced teaching and learning innovation, coordination of program delivery, collaboration with the recruitment and liaison team, development and delivery of co-curricular experiences, and contribute to the overall student experience while at the OAC.

The SMSE must collaborate to strengthen existing relationships between the Dean’s office, academic advising, student governance and clubs, and the academic units. The SMSE will act as a delegate for the Associate Dean, manage staff coordination, and act as the primary student liaison for the college. This multifaceted role will require knowledge, experience, and skill with: pedagogy, communication, planning, resource utilization, well-being supports, technology, and university policies and procedures.

Student experience is a critical component of Ontario Agriculture College’s worldwide reputation. The SMSE will lead the organization of key OAC events as part of this developmental pathway for our students, as well as support student-led initiatives that enhance their experience in the program. A confident and dynamic leader is needed to lead this portfolio that bridges across our student, staff, faculty, and leadership stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A master's degree is required, preferably in Master of Education, Master of Business Administration, or an equivalent area;
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience in the high education sector;
  • Strong academic administration background with an excellent understanding of the academic process;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to facilitate and develop partnerships with senior professionals on and off-campus;
  • Ability to vision and plan strategically;
  • Ability to effectively manage a team/employees, to negotiate, persuade and deal with difficult people;
  • Knowledge of experiential, active, and service learning;
  • Knowledge of learning outcomes development and assessment;
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning best practices and how to resource and recommend new, innovative opportunities for teaching development;
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and develop a community of practice in relation to continuous program improvement;
  • Awareness of the accreditation bodies, their standards, and how to optimize compliance across multiple accrediting bodies;
  • Knowledge of the University Policies and Procedures, including IQAP;
  • Familiarity with the misconduct and academic review procedures at the University;
  • Some evenings and weekend work is required.

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
