General Purpose

Reporting to the Manager of Campus Parking Services, the Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) is responsible for enforcing parking regulations across the University of Guelph’s campus, ensuring compliance and maintaining order.

Duties and Responsibilites

This role involves patrolling designated areas on foot, by bicycle, or by vehicle utilizing enforcement technology to monitor and issue violations as needed. The PEO actively monitors parking lots, fire routes, service areas, pay-by-plate zones, and accessible parking spaces to ensure compliance with university parking regulations. Enforcement duties include issuing electronic parking violations using handheld devices and identifying and coordinating vehicle impoundment for non-compliance or outstanding violations. The PEO assists with signage maintenance, repairing and replacing signage. PEO supports the Campus Safety Office in locating stolen or damaged vehicles. The role also involves directing and managing parking and traffic flow for major events such as convocations and special functions. The PEO also provides professional assistance to students, staff, and visitors regarding parking policies to ensure a positive campus experience. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requriements

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent;
  • prior knowledge of parking regulations is preferred,
  • strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience using enforcement technology and mobile devices
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic hand tools are preferred.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 10 kg and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • This role requires individuals who can work independently, adapt to changing situations, and maintain professionalism when engaging with the public.
