The Cancer Clinical Research Unit has a mandate to lead and promote clinical research within the PM Cancer Centre through standardization of processes and encouraging a culture of responsibility and accountability in clinical trials.

Working under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Research Quality Specialist (RQS) will build on past experience in the coordination and administration of clinical trials (e.g. data collection and source documentation, ethics submissions, safety monitoring and serious adverse event reporting, liaising with sponsors and external stakeholders) to facilitate, mentor, and enhance quality, standardization, and productivity in clinical research across the oncology program. In collaboration with key CCRU stakeholders including principal investigators, research managers, coordinators, and UHN departments that provide services for clinical research purposes, the RQS will be required to promote best practices and changes to ensure quality research conduct and patient safety. In addition, the RQS is responsible for oversight related to clinical research quality standards and compliance as required by the ICH-GCP and various regulatory agencies.

Duties
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the identification, assessment, and management of risks / quality gaps across the PM Cancer Program. This position will utilize the knowledge of clinical study management to support the administration of CCRU standard operating procedures (SOPs); participate in incident analysis reviews and related meetings; provide education and support to aforementioned stakeholders around research quality; conduct quality assurance reviews for both retrospective and prospective studies; provide data on program-wide quality trends; and lead or participate in the review of non-compliance issues for the purpose of providing recommendations for system learning and improvement.
