University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN have made it a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care. Research across UHN's six research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.

The Research Impact Analyst will work closely with the Manager, Research Analytics and other team members within UHN Research Solutions and Services. Together, they will provide data, analyses, and tools to support strategic decisions and improve research impact at UHN.

Duties:

ASSETS:
• Knowledge of and/or experience with research metrics tools such as InCites and SciVal
• Knowledge of issues related to researcher identification and experience using researcher profiling systems (e.g. Researcher ID, ORCID)
• Information analysis and synthesis experience
• Visual report and dashboard creation experience
• Knowledge of metrics and related issues for stakeholders ranging from individual researchers up to and including institutions
• Understanding of the issues related to appropriate use of bibliometrics tools, an awareness of the potential misuse of these tools and misinterpretation of the results
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic and derivative metrics (publication counts, citation counts, h-index, journal or discipline normalized metrics, other index metrics)
• Good understanding of citation analysis and network analysis (rationales & methodologies & limitations)
• Experience working as a research impact librarian
• Excellent communication skills: ability to converse articulately with research administrators and faculty members
• Excellent written and verbal skills for teaching, troubleshooting, procedural documentation and demonstrated experience with report writing
• Conversant with issues related to the quantification of research impact
• Demonstrated experience with instructional development and delivery
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to develop data validation procedures
• History of learning and adopting new systems
• Able to conceptually understand workflows and algorithms
• Ability to take initiative, create opportunities, and develop effective partnerships
