The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Université Laval invites applications for a tenior track position. The professor will be responsible for the following duties:

• Teaching at all levels in computer science and software engineering.
• Supervising students at all levels.
• Conducting research activities to access grant programs.
• Participating in administrative activities.

• To hold a Ph.D. in computer science or software engineering, or in a relevant discipline targeted by this position, or to be in the process of obtaining a Ph.D.
• Relevance of scientific expertise and experience related to the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, including but not limited to: statistical learning theories, generative models, large language models, reinforcement learning, optimization algorithms applied to deep neural networks, interpretability, explainability, or certification of machine learning models.
• Proven abilities to conduct research activities.
• Potential for the development of an autonomous and original research activity related to the AI field, complementing existing research capabilities at Université Laval.
• Preference will be given to candidates with a strong research focus in the research domains identified above.
• Demonstrated or potential aptitude for university teaching at all university levels, supervising students at all levels, and commitment to pedagogical innovation.
• Demonstrated potential or commitment to community service.
• Ability to communicate and integrate in the institution's Francophone context (within a reasonable time frame).
• Adequacy of professional potential with the key competencies required for the practice of the professorial role:
  • Analysis, synthesis, and judgement
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and open mindedness.
  • Team working skills
  • Autonomy and responsible attitude

Assets :

• Membership in, or eligibility to become a member of, the OIQ, Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
• Industrial experience as well as the ability to establish research collaborations with industry.

Conditions
Salary according to the current collective agreement

• A five-year research activity plan (no more than 2 pages, excluding references);
• One to three publications representative of their contribution to the research;
• A description (approximately one page) of an advanced undergraduate course (13 sessions of 3 hours) in the candidate's field of expertise;
