We specialize in the manufacturing of roof trusses, prefabricated wall systems, and floor joists for residential and commercial projects. As a Wood Structure Designer, you will play a key role within our design team by creating and drafting wood structures, including walls, floors, and roof trusses, while ensuring they meet technical requirements and our high quality standards. This position involves analyzing building or house plans, preparing detailed technical drawings for manufacturing, and providing essential documentation for production and delivery.
Remote work is accepted.
Main ResponsibilitiesAnalysis of Plans and Technical DrawingsReview architectural and technical plans provided by clients or architects.
Identify specific project requirements, assess technical feasibility, and propose optimized structural solutions that comply with industry standards.
Use specialized software such as MiTek to design and draft structural wood components such as trusses, walls, and floor panels.
Ensure that all designs meet project specifications, technical requirements, and safety standards.
Collaborate with engineers and architects to incorporate performance and safety features into designs.
Produce detailed shop drawings for production in our factory.
Ensure that all drawings are accurate, clear, and aligned with project requirements for smooth, error-free manufacturing.
Perform structural calculations to determine the loads and stresses the wood components must withstand.
Ensure that designs meet safety and performance criteria, in accordance with the National Building Code.
Compile and organize all necessary technical documentation for manufacturing and delivery.
Work closely with departments such as production, project management, and sales to ensure customer satisfaction.
Provide technical advice and support.
Participate in the improvement of design and manufacturing processes.
Contribute to product innovation and workflow optimization to improve efficiency and quality.
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of an open work permit.
Degree in engineering, architectural technology, or a related field.
2 to 5 years experience would be an asset
Bilingual communication skills (French and English) are considered an asset.
Knowledge of the National Building Code.
Analytical and solution-oriented mindset.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and MiTek software is a strong asset.
