The Payroll Agent is responsible for:
- Managing payroll tasks for drivers and owner-operators (brokers);
- Processing payments and maintaining payroll records;
- Answering questions from drivers and owner-operators (brokers).
Responsibilities
- Collect, verify, and enter all data required to prepare payroll (hours worked, bonuses, allowances, absences, etc.).
- Manage payroll specifics related to drivers:
- Calculating overtime, driving time, and waiting time.
- Applying bonuses (mileage, meals, overnight stays, etc.).
- Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations (working hours, rest periods).
- Calculate wages, social contributions, and deductions in accordance with collective agreements and regulations.
- Generate and verify pay statements before distribution.
- Manage social declarations (CNESST, QPP, employment insurance, etc.).
- Respond to employee questions regarding their compensation.
- Stay up to date on labor law and payroll regulations.
- Participate in month-end closing and internal payroll audits.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information handled.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting (preferred).
- Diploma or training in accounting and/or human resources.
- Proficiency with payroll software and office tools (Excel, M365, ERP).
- Knowledge of Employeur D, Folks, and Evolia (an asset).
- Strong understanding of labor law and collective agreements, especially in the transportation sector (an asset).
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate clearly.
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability in a changing environment.
- Bilingual (EN/FR).
- Expertise in regulations applicable to companies under federal jurisdiction.
Education and Experience
- Diploma in accounting, management, or human resources (DEC or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position, ideally with driver payroll or in the transportation sector.
Employment Conditions
- Salary: To be discussed based on relevant experience.
- Permanent position; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (flexible schedule to be discussed).
