Job Overview

We are seeking individuals to work at TCR as Debt Counsellors. In this role, you will provide debt collection services to a variety of clients and portfolios and help Canadians rebuild their credit. Please note that while this is a work-from-home/remote position, you must live within a reasonable distance of TCR's office in Laval, QC to pick up and return the equipment assigned to you for the duration of your employment.


Responsibilities
• Contact customers by phone to negotiate payments on overdue accounts
• Assist customers by offering solutions to meet their financial goals, such as debt management
• Analyze and assess customers' financial situations, creditworthiness, and repayment capacity
• Conduct initial screening using online tools and in-house systems
• Follow regulations and guidelines according to provincial and federal laws and customer-specific directives
• Negotiate professionally and respectfully with customers and explore funding options to determine the best possible arrangement
• Obtain comprehensive credit and loan information
• Clearly and concisely document the details of each call
• Request statements for overdue accounts and forward irreconcilable accounts for legal action
• Review and update credit and loan files
• Other duties as assigned


Requested skills

• Experience in a call center environment is an asset
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

• A compassionate and empathetic approach
• Ability to maintain an objective/non-judgmental stance even when speaking with customers in emotional/difficult situations
• Proficiency in computer skills and office software
• Ability to achieve performance targets
• Ability to work rotating shifts (evenings and/or weekends)
