Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Risk Management Coordinator works collaboratively with all levels of hospital staff and external stakeholders to facilitate the effective handling, documentation and response to legal and risk issues. Provides support to the network for Administration On Call and Product Recalls. Participates in the Corporate Integrated/Enterprise Risk Management processes.

They are an integral member of Risk Management team providing co-ordination and support across the portfolio.

Reporting to the Director, Privacy, Risk & Emergency Management, the incumbent is a strong, independent resource; a team player who is proactive, flexible as well as competent in determining priorities, exercising judgement and discretion with confidential information with strong organizational, investigative, fact finding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

Claims Management:

  • Files actual or potential claims with insurers

  • Collaborate with the Director and Specialist, outside counsel, and staff to accumulate information required for legal cases

  • Collaborates with SHN leadership to prepare staff to meet with adjuster/lawyers

  • Prepares weekly and/or monthly reports

  • Develops standard work for med legals

  • Develops, monitors and reports on key performance indicators and key risk indicators

Risk Management Activities:

Coordinates the Administrator On-Call process

  • Scheduling

  • Training

  • System/process maintenance

Product Recalls:

  • Review product recalls on a daily basis and manages them with key stakeholders

  • Reviews follow up and submits to initiator of product recalls

  • Works collaboratively with risk management leadership to develop formal product recall process

  • Develops metrics on process

Assists in development and implementation of the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) process

  • Works collaboratively with risk leadership on the review process for IRM

  • Prepares reports for local leaders

  • Works in collaboration with risk leadership to develop reports for SLT and The Board

  • Develops standard work for IRM In partnership with the IRM Specialist

  • Develops, monitors and reports on key performance indicators and key risk indicators

HIROC Insurance:

  • Completes and updates annual insurance

  • Coordinates annual HIROC Risk Assessment Checklist process and submissions

  • Develops process for obtaining certificates of insurance on an ad hoc basis (e.g. requests from Foundation, programs and individual staff members)

  • Prepares reports

Assists in development and implementation of the Legislative Compliance management (LCM) process

  • Provides support to new staff and Chiefs on the LCM process

  • Works collaboratively with risk leadership on the review process for LCM

  • Prepares reports for local leaders

  • Works in collaboration with risk leadership to develop reports for SLT and The Board

  • Develops standard work for LCM

  • Develops, monitors and reports on key performance indicators and key risk indicators

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, providing great customer service.

  • Experience with both legislative compliance and enterprise risk management processes.

  • Comprehends the medico legal process and has worked with legal counsel.

  • Knowledge with change management at the corporate level.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced IT/Data Management skills

  • Working knowledge of risk management principles and standards

  • Superb skills with Microsoft Office

  • Remarkable experience managing highly sensitive information

  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in a professional manner.

Nice to have:

  • Certification in the following: CRM Certification or Project Management Professional

  • Professional Membership in Risk Management
