Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, you will be responsible for providing excellent care to a diverse patient population within our multi-service environment. You will have patient experiences across the spectrum of all emergencies including: a high patient population for pediatrics, cardiology, obstetrics/gynecology, moderate trauma, oncology, dialysis, medicine and psychiatry. The successful candidate could be scheduled to work at the Clinical Day Unit based on departmental needs. You will provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, based on the philosophy and conceptual framework of Nursing Practice at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). You may be scheduled at the General or Birchmount hospital based on departmental needs.

Requirements:

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification or within 6 months of hire
• Current PALS certification or within 6 months of hire
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Certification within 6 months of hire
• Coronary Care 1 certificate or within 6 months of hire
• Successful completion of Emergency Nursing Association (ENA) online learning modules within 6 months of hire
• Minimum of (1) year of current Emergency and/or (2) years current Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Evidence of sound organizational & prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
• Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers & other members of the community and public
• Ability to work well independently and exercise sound judgement
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
• Excellent work performance and attendance
