Job Description:
Position Overview:
The position will have regional responsibilities supporting satellite sites across the CELHIN and thus would require travel from site to site. Reporting directly to the Manager, Regional Cardiovascular Rehab, this role will work closely with physicians, other exercise therapists and multidisciplinary team across the CELHIN. The Exercise Therapist is responsible for case management of outpatient population, development of individualized exercise and wellness programs, risk factor assessment, patient supervision and monitoring, counselling and support.

Requirements:
•B.Sc. in Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Physical Education or related health discipline
•Current BCLS certification
•Minimum 1 year relevant experience in cardiovascular rehab
•Working knowledge of cardiac and exercise physiology, basic ECG interpretation, cardiac medications and the principals of behaviour modification
•Experience in exercise training principles, exercise leadership, exercise prescription and care plan development, preferably within the cardiac population
•Excellent communication (oral, written, telephone) and interpersonal skills with a well developed customer focus, dealing effectively with internal customers and the community, respecting confidentiality
•Evidence of competency with adult education and presentation skills
•Demonstrated ability to problem-solve independently, practicing sound judgement and initiative
•Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
•Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
• Excellent work performance and attendance

•American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Specialist Certification
•Computer skills - Microsoft Office, MEDITECH, Cardiologica
•Membership with the CACR and CRNO
•Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin) with College of Kinesiology of Ontario (CKO)
