Job Description:

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Managers of the Diagnostic Imaging department, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. The Charge Technologist will plan, organize, co-ordinate and assure a high quality of performance and that industry and hospital standards are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and others, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and legislation, and the code of conduct of the hospital.
  • Ensure that protective equipment is provided and that hazards are identified and responded to.
  • Provide operational leadership, including planning, organizing, and coordinating MRI services.
  • Assist and provide leadership for technical staff in performing their duties to assure high quality of performance and standards.
  • Complete imaging exams and full-line technologist duties.
  • Manage human resources functions, including scheduling of staff, orientation and training, coaching and mentoring, and assignment of duties.
  • Assist in the development, revision and review of the policies and procedures for MRI related functions following published best practice guidelines.
  • Coordinate and maintain inventory control of stock and non-stock purchases. Ensure efficient use of supplies within assigned budget.
  • Perform various admin duties to ensure optimized departmental flow, including and not limited to: payroll, scheduling, workload assessment, accreditation, and financial assessment.
  • Participate and contribute knowledge and expertise to various redevelopment, future growth, services expansion, and other projects across sites.
  • Teach and coach staff, new team members, and students. Provide guidance to ensure team practice and competency is up to date.
  • Participate in SHN leadership development program for lead technologists.

Requirements:

  • Current CAMRT Magnetic Resonance certification
  • Current CMRITO registration, with MRT(MR) designation
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience as a Medical Technologist preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year MRI experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and practices of procedures, equipment and special techniques related to MR
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and technical abilities
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a MR setting preferred.
  • Experience developing schedules, assessing staffing needs and ensuring accuracy of work
  • Proficiency with coordinating workflow and assisting with departmental budget management
  • Familiarity with developing and revising new policies and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize and organize daily work
  • High degree of professionalism and initiative, with the ability to function independently in a position with limited immediate supervision.
  • Evidence of excellent sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
