Position Description:
The Operations Environmental Health and Safety Manager (OEHSM) is responsible for developing and administering environmental health and safety programs that comply with legislation, regulations and meet company standards for health, safety, and environmental performance. The OEHSM leads/supports project development and implementation using change management processes, manages document updates. The Health and Safety Business Process Lead reports directly to the OEHSM. The OEHSM is responsible for leading and developing The Business Process Lead. The OEHSM will work cross-functionally with learning, internal communications as they deliver on EHS strategy other responsibilities include, Health and Safety reporting systems, forecasting, and monitoring Health and Safety performance.
Collaboration, effective communication, balancing stakeholders, business insights, technical and analytical skills are critical to the success of this position. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager Divisional Health and Safety, and supports the Health and Safety department, and other cross-functional business partners across the Home Depot, including but not limited to learning, store operations, field operations, merchandising, legal, IT, human resources tool rental operations, Home Depot equipment services, installation services and building services. Position Responsibilities:
Ensure The Home Depot’s Environment, Health and Safety practices, training, program elements, materials and equipment meet or exceed the most rigorous Government, Regulatory, Best Industry Practices or The Home Depot’s Standard in the most cost-effective manner
Responsible for Health and Safety Business Process Lead in conducting analyses (weekly and monthly) and produce forecasts for the use in the development of Health and Safety business decisions
Developing and coaching for the Health and Safety Business Process Lead
Lead simplification, engineering solutions efforts and key Environmental Health and Safety projects
Manage document updates (standards, SOPs, etc.)
Responsible for all aspects of Home Depot EH&S policies and procedures
Develop, test and rollout new tools and applications using an agile approach with the Health and Safety Managers and other cross functional teams such as IT, Legal, HR, Store Operations, Field Support teams based on business needs and requirements
Work with the Learning team to prioritize Health and Safety training development. Organize and follow up with learning and the Health and Safety Managers for execution
Create and maintain reporting methods, tools and documents to aid stakeholders in proactive problem solving
Develop and support and execute the Environmental Health and Safety strategy and execution of key initiatives
Collaborate with multiple SSC functions to develop strategic initiatives, inform of trends and risks. These include but are not limited to store operations, field operations, merchandising, legal, IT, human resources, and associate relations.
Conduct routine Environmental Health and Safety audits to ensure compliance with regulations and standards, and develop corrective action plans as needed to address deficiencies
In collaboration with Legal, monitor changes to Occupational Health & Safety legislation, and prepare briefs and discussion papers on integrating changes to laws into Home Depot policies

Candidate Qualifications
Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (2 year)
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation + 5 year of Health and Safety experience.
Analyze information, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions that support strategy and imperatives
Effectively prioritize multiple demands; adjust to change quickly and work constructively under stress
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including ability to constructively articulate viewpoint to various levels of associates and leadership
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive and controversial issues
Knowledge of federal and provincial Workers Compensation and Health & Safety laws and regulations is an asset
Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
