As the Appraiser II, Property Building, you will provide quality control for damage estimates. You will be responsible to analyze assessments provided by vendors, inspect the quality of work and ensure accuracy and alignment with the scope of the insured loss. You will act as a technical resource and offer guidance on building construction, repairs and vendor performance.
How you will create impact:
- Reviewing building estimates and supporting documentation provided by property vendors, assessing legitimacy, accuracy and containment of costs and ensuring alignment with corporate guidelines and industry standards.
- Negotiating and collaborating with vendors and the claims handling team to ensure efficiency, timeliness and quality of the repair process.
- Acting as a subject matter expert and providing guidance on building construction, repairs and vendor performance.
- Conducting inspections to assess property damage and scope and preparing estimates while considering quality, repair methods, costs and safety.
- Providing exceptional client service in accordance with our claims service and quality standards, with the view of enabling the organization to be the industry leader in client engagement.

To join our team:
- You have five years of contractor or trade experience in property or commercial claims.
- You have a post-secondary certificate in building construction and trades or related on-the-job training.
- Chartered Insurance Professionals (CIP) designation is an asset.
- HAAG Certified Inspector Program and/or Level 1 Xactimate Certification and Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) accreditation is an asset.
- Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
What you need to know:
- You are required to have your own vehicle, valid driver’s license and insurance.
- You will travel occasionally.
- Extended work hours, including evenings and weekends, will be required during peak periods and major events.
- Frequent movement, moderate exertion and the ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs is required.
- Repetitive, transactional tasks where accuracy is essential.
- Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
- Potential exposure to conditions that require health and safety protection, such as chemicals, noise, dust and debris.
- This role involves direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.
- You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
