What You'll Be Doing:

Join a cross-functional squad to understand requirements and specifications, checking in daily with your team and supervised by a Senior R&D Engineer

Create efficient, maintainable, and tested production-quality scientific code following agile practices and best practices within our development process

Develop industry-leading photonic simulation software that enables virtual prototyping and design optimization for cutting-edge technologies like LiDAR systems, virtual reality headsets, and quantum computing platforms

Actively participate in planning your work, conducting pull requests, and providing constructive feedback to peers while keeping colleagues updated on progress, obstacles, or issues

Present your work to other teams within the business unit and across Synopsys, showcasing your contributions and learning from others


What You'll Need:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Strong experience developing with C++17 in a commercial setting or academic environment (this is essential)

Excellent problem-solving ability and a passion for code, with a willingness to take chances, show initiative, and love to learn

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio or VSCode, CMake, Git, and Build & Deployment Pipelines

Preferred: Experience with Visual Studio or VSCode, knowledge of Copilot and AI tools, interest or experience with plotting/graphics software such as VTK library and OpenGL, and experience with automated build, test, and deployment pipelines such as GitHub Actions

Working Model: In-person at our Vancouver office with some flexibility for hybrid work
