• Join a cross-functional squad to understand requirements and specifications, checking in daily with your team and supervised by a Senior R&D Engineer

• Create efficient, maintainable, and tested production-quality scientific code following agile practices and best practices within our development process

• Develop industry-leading photonic simulation software that enables virtual prototyping and design optimization for cutting-edge technologies like LiDAR systems, virtual reality headsets, and quantum computing platforms

• Actively participate in planning your work, conducting pull requests, and providing constructive feedback to peers while keeping colleagues updated on progress, obstacles, or issues

• Present your work to other teams within the business unit and across Synopsys, showcasing your contributions and learning from others

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

• Strong experience developing with C++17 in a commercial setting or academic environment (this is essential)

• Excellent problem-solving ability and a passion for code, with a willingness to take chances, show initiative, and love to learn

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

• Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio or VSCode, CMake, Git, and Build & Deployment Pipelines

• Preferred: Experience with Visual Studio or VSCode, knowledge of Copilot and AI tools, interest or experience with plotting/graphics software such as VTK library and OpenGL, and experience with automated build, test, and deployment pipelines such as GitHub Actions

Program Length: 3 months (Fall Internship)

Location: Vancouver, Canada

Working Model: In-person at our Vancouver office with some flexibility for hybrid work

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time
