The Opportunity

 

Payroll Services at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is a team of 10 providing full service payroll to over 9,000 Hospital staff. Reporting to the Manager. The Payroll system specialist is an experienced payroll professional who will identify and implement process improvements and serve as a technical and analytical expert within the team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting upgrade/implementation projects including an upcoming human resource information system implementation. This is a technical role that requires prior experience with Workday.

 

Key Tasks

 

Key Responsibilities during project:

  • Design, configure, and maintain Workday payroll integrations with internal and external systems (e.g., time tracking, benefits, financial systems, third-party vendors).
  • Participate in Workday Payroll implementation project, providing expertise in integration setup, payroll configuration, system testing and deployment.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain payroll-related reports, ensuring data validity, accuracy and alignment with stakeholder requirements.
  • Support payroll transmission processes, ensuring timely and accurate payroll runs.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and testing during payroll cycles and system updates.
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to implement process improvements, updates, and system enhancements.
  • Assist in documentation of payroll processes, integrations, reports, and configuration standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve integration or payroll-related issues promptly.
  • Support Workday system upgrades, patches, and new functionality, particularly those impacting payroll or payroll-related integrations.
  • Ensure adherence to data integrity, confidentiality, and security standards across all payroll and integration processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with Workday Payroll and payroll integrations, including experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and/or Web Services.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in payroll reporting, reconciliation, and system testing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience participating in Workday implementation or upgrade projects is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Certifications

  • Workday Payroll Certified
  • Workday Integration Certified (Studio, Core Connector, or EIB)
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent
