Description

Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Research spans three Toronto-based campuses, eight programs and three scientific platforms. Our main aims are to understand and prevent disease, and to develop treatments that enhance and extend life. Our vision is to invent the future of health care. Each year, we conduct about $100 million in research across 500,000 square feet, including in the world’s first Centre for Research in Image-Guided Therapeutics.
Dr. Liu’s research lab focuses on improving patient outcomes through cancer molecular biology and biomarker research. Their work aims to decipher tumour resistance to radiation treatment, leverage patient immune response for treatments of radiorecurrent and aggressive prostate cancer, and create patient-derived cell lines for personalized therapy prediction.
Summary of Duties:
The ideal candidate will assist with various ongoing projects related to prostate cancer research. These will include wet-lab based projects (cell culture, animal studies) and dry-lab based projects (data analysis, model development).
- Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in a relevant field is required. An MSc is considered an asset.
- One year of relevant research experience.
- Experience with cellular assays, specimen handling, and data analysis is required. Experience with programming languages (R, Python) is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science required (MSc an asset)
