Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program focuses on treating and researching complex brain conditions, building on decades of expertise in brain disease management. Sunnybrook is a pioneer in neuromodulation, a rapidly advancing field that uses innovative technologies to target brain circuits for treating various brain disorders. The Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation (HCN) is among the first to offer a full spectrum of neuromodulation therapies in a state-of-the-art facility. With internationally recognized researchers, HCN focuses on minimally invasive technologies to address the root causes of conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, ALS, essential tremor, brain tumors, major depression, and OCD. Our experts are committed to developing personalized, cutting-edge treatments, expanding our impact locally and globally as the field continues to evolve.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in neuroimaging analysis, with a focus on advancing our understanding of focused ultrasound and brain disorders. Another aspect of conducting translational studies in animal models along with other team members to address unresolved questions from clinical trials in focused ultrasound. This role offers an exciting opportunity to analyze and interpret complex datasets, as well as to communicate research findings through manuscripts, grant applications, and oral presentations. Expertise in handling and analyzing large, complex datasets is highly desirable. This position provides an excellent foundation for a career in academic and translational research.
Summary of Duties:
- Engage with interdisciplinary clinical and research teams to support the coordination and collection of data from patients who undergo focused ultrasound procedures
- Engage with graduate students and research technicians to conduct testing hypothesis regarding focused ultrasound in animal models
- Analyze neuroimaging data and interpret findings in relation to the existing literature on the secondary effect of focused ultrasound
- Contribute to a range of collaborative projects involving focused ultrasound
- Write and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience, Neuroimaging, or Focused Ultrasound.
- Experience in neuroimaging analysis, including structural and dynamic MRIs
- Knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python, or MATLAB.
- Team player and self-starter with the ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communications and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships and coordinate teams of varying backgrounds while ensuring targets and objectives are met.
