Summary of Duties
 
We are currently seeking a physiotherapist with expertise in Vestibular Therapy to provide services to patients at our Bayview Campus. You will be responsible for independently assessing clients and developing and implementing treatment programs for clients with vestibular and related disorders as a part of the specialized outpatient Ambulatory Rehabilitation program. Our clinical practice is primarily OHIP-funded, with a smaller component of WSIB clients. We treat in a one-on-one model with quality of care and education in home exercises/self-treatment as a focus. You will triage referrals based on need, discuss the plan of care with referring clinicians and patients, and complete associated administrative work and documentation per hospital and professional requirements.You will educate client and their families, hospital staff, and the community regarding vestibular disorders and preventative care.

As part of our academic health sciences centre, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing professional development activities that foster ongoing learning, professionalism, inter-professional collaboration and best practices in occupational therapy/physiotherapy. You will act as a resource to occupational therapy/physiotherapy students on an ongoing basis, in support of Sunnybrook’s full affiliation with the University of Toronto

 
Qualifications/Skills
• Master’s degree or regulatory body approved equivalent in Physiotherapy.
• Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, and practice in accordance with Standards for Practice.
• Minimum two (2) years clinical experience working with vestibular disorders
• Previous experience in concussion rehabilitation preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to person-centered care.
• Excellent ability to work independently, and to collaborate with other therapists and surgeons.
• Well-developed communication skills, and strong ability to prepare cogent written reports in a timely fashion.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Strong professionalism, demonstrated in team building skills and conflict resolution skills.
• Computer literacy required.
