Physiotherapist - K3E Acute Care Unit - Regular Full-time 2024-8445

The Physiotherapist (in collaboration with the interprofessional team) is responsible for providing person centred patient assessments and interventions, including recommendations for follow-up as required [i.e. home care program, community or rehabilitation resources] for the General Internal Medicine Unit K3E.  As a member of the interprofessional team, the PT plans, implements, directs, and monitors patient’s physiotherapy programs and will work closely with Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) when implementing patients’ programs. The PT participates in unit rounds and family conferences providing appropriate recommendations for treatment and discharge.  The PT actively participates in inter-professional team activities such as team meetings, clinical rounds, team huddles and quality improvement initiatives. Participates in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that fosters ongoing learning, professionalism, interprofessional collaborations, and best practices in physiotherapy for acute care patients.  Acts as a resource to the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto for student teaching.  Is an expert resource for; staff, students, and other health care providers related to physiotherapy.  Participates in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy Services. Practices in accordance with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario standards of practice.   Qualifications/Skills: MSc[PT] or equivalent Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario Rostered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for Tracheal Suctioning and Administering a Substance by Inhalation One to two years of general acute care physiotherapy experience preferred Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a team environment Strong time-management and organizational skills Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
