Physiotherapist - Inpatient Oncology - Temporary Full-Time - 2026-17268

  • Summary of Duties:

     

    The Physiotherapist (in collaboration with the interprofessional team) is responsible for providing person centred patient assessments and interventions, including recommendations for follow-up and discharge planning as required on the Oncology Patient Services Units [i.e. Home Care Program, community or rehabilitation resources]. This position will provide coverage to both the surgical and medical oncology units. 

     

    Responsibilities include:

     

    • Active participation in inter-professional team activities such as team meetings, clinical rounds, and huddles.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, evaluative processes that include the use of standardized and valid outcome measures, report writing, and research activities.
    • Participate in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that foster ongoing learning, professionalism, interprofessional collaborations, and best practices in physiotherapy for acute care patients.
    • Participation in clinical education and supervision of physical therapy students on an ongoing basis.
    • Be a resource for the education of interprofessional students.
    • Be an expert resource for: staff, students, and other health care providers related to physiotherapy.
    • Participate in appropriate committees and in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy Services.
    • Practice in accordance with the College of Physiotherapy of Ontario standards of practice.

     

    Qualifications/Skills:

     

    • Must possess MSc[PT] or equivalent with Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario in good standing
    • Rostered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for Tracheal Suctioning and Administering a Substance by Inhalation (expected)
    • One to two years of acute care physiotherapy experience preferred
    • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Well-developed time management, prioritization and organizational skills
    • Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
