Summary of Duties

We have a permanent full-time vacancy for an Operations & Projects Pharmacist in the Pharmacy Department (Supervisor, Operations & Projects). This role includes responsibilities across Extended Care Pharmacy, Pharmacy Manufacturing, Strategic Operations & Systems, and related areas within the Pharmacy department. Start Date:  April 1, 2026.

 

Responsibilities include:

Operations & Safety

  • Supervise and support operations
  • Coordinate and optimize safe, efficient and standardized workflows
  • Apply knowledge of NAPRA, OCP and Accreditation Canada standards and comply with these standards in the redesign of workflow and plans to address any compliance gaps with the area managers
  • Apply knowledge of medication system technologies, distribution systems, compounding best-practices and standards and pharmacy automation and informatics to improve medication safety
  • Ensure pharmacy support to safe-medication practices - receiving of product to final disposition.
  • Implement medication-system quality-improvement initiatives in collaboration with management, stakeholders and interprofessional teams.
  • Oversee medication-related safety report follow-up and systems-based improvements
  • Actively participate in committees
  • Provide direct patient care, including the clinical review, clarification and entering or verification of medication orders.
  • Clinical review of Total Parenteral Nutrition orders.
  • Participate in new pharmacist training and orientation
  • Occasionally provide managerial coverage when required

 

Projects

  • Lead and participate in various projects related to quality improvement, workflow efficiencies and operational implementation of new processes.
  • Communicate and liaise with Sunnybrook team members across the department and interprofessional teams.  
  • Sunnybrook is an Academic Health Sciences Centre and all staff are required to support learners in various stages of training through teaching and precepting as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience as a pharmacist in hospital for a minimum of 2-3 years is an asset.
  • Formal project management or LEAN experience or training an asset.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations
  • Strong planning and organizational ability
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Must work effectively with minimal direction and within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Part A
