Summary of Duties

We have a permanent full-time vacancy for an Operations & Projects Pharmacist in the Acute Care Pharmacy.  Start Date:  March 16, 2026

 

Responsibilities include:

Operations & Safety

  • Supervise and support Acute Care Pharmacy operations
  • Coordinate and optimize safe, efficient and standardized workflows
  • Apply knowledge of NAPRA, OCP and Accreditation Canada standards and comply with these standards in the redesign of workflow and plans to address compliance gaps with the Acute Care Pharmacy Manager
  • Apply knowledge of medication system technologies, distribution systems and their role in improving medication safety
  • Ensure best practice safe medication practices end to end in the medication system - receiving of product to bedside administration
  • Implement medication system quality improvement initiatives with the Acute Care Pharmacy Manager and other stakeholders
  • Oversee medication-related safety report follow-up
  • Actively participate in committees
  • Review, clarify and enter physician orders, answer medication-related questions
  • Participate in new pharmacist training and orientation
  • Provide managerial coverage when Acute Care Manager is away

Projects

  • Lead and participate in various projects, as assigned by the Acute Care Pharmacy Manager and/or Director of Pharmacy

 

  • Communicate and liaise with Acute Care Pharmacy team members, other Pharmacy area Managers/staff, MedIQS pharmacists, Pharmacy Systems pharmacists, Patient Care Managers/Nursing representatives, Information Systems team members
  • Assume tasks as assigned by the Acute Care Pharmacy Manager
  • As Sunnybrook is an Academic Health Sciences Centre and all staff are required to support learners in various stages of training through teaching and precepting as assigned

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience as a pharmacist in hospital for a minimum of 3 years
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations
  • Strong planning and organizational ability with formal project management experience/training preferred
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Must work effectively with minimal direction and within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Part A
