Summary of Duties The MLT supports the Point of Care Testing program by providing technical, operational and educational supportive services to the hospital health care professionals certified to perform POCT to ensure quality patient care.   May be assigned to assist in clinical chemistry laboratory as required. Reviews and interprets QC, and other lab related statistical data; Drafts validation protocols, and standard operating procedures Must be adept at monitoring and trouble-shooting quality issues for all POCT platforms Validates new and serviced POCT devices; provides training to healthcare professionals; and aids in troubleshooting network and instrument issues Administers the external quality assessment programs to meet accreditation requirements; maintains equipment and operator training records Files i-speak up reports; and perform   Qualifications/Skills Current CMLTO registration as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist required Minimum two years recent Point of Care Testing experience in a hospital setting and/or successful completion of AACC POCT certificate required, with advanced experience in clinical chemistry required. Demonstrated sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant analytical techniques Demonstrated knowledge of quality control, proficiency testing, and related troubleshooting Demonstrated ability to train health care providers. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to troubleshoot networking issues and instrument issues including instrument configuration. Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and change tasks midstream as required Demonstrated commitment to customer service.. demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels Demonstrated effective problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills Knowledge of continuous quality improvement and total quality management principles required Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required Demonstrated ability to write concise, complete and accurate standard operating procedures. Experience writing validation protocols preferred. Experience with middleware or data management software such as AegisPOC required. Experience with urine dipstick readers, their set up and ongoing troubleshooting required. Experience with configuration and validation of glucose meters required. Experience with POCT CBC and coagulation (ACT and Rotem®) preferred. Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint applications Demonstrated continuous learning and reviewing lab scientific/professional related literature Knowledge of IQMH POCT requirements and MOH POCT policy Able to complete the full duties and responsibilities for this position, for example, able to lift portable equipment up to 45 pounds, etc. All selected applicants will be requested to successfully pass a practical assessment prior to being interviewed
