Located within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Bayview Avenue in Toronto, the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association (SDMA) consists of more than 100 physicians and approximately 150 administrative staff. Position Overview:   The HR Manager is a member of the SDMA HR Committee and reports to the Physician in Chief, and SDMA Management committee through the SDMA HR Chair.   Working in collaboration with the SDMA leadership, the HR Manager will be responsible for the overall management of a comprehensive human resources program and services for the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association. The HR Manager will develop and implement programs, policies and services relating to: Recruitment and onboarding, employee and labour relations, employment best practices, compensation and benefits, performance management, professional development, and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, legal compliance, and employment terminations.       Key Responsibilities:   Human resources management including but not limited to:   Management of all day-to-day human resources functions.   This includes, but is not limited to: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and develop and implement HR policies and procedures, Provide guidance and support to mangers on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions. Conduct investigations into complaints or concerns and recommend appropriate actions.   Recruitment Assist with the full life cycle of recruitment and onboarding of SDMA staff. Facilitate HR orientation for SDMA new hires. Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, and audits for accuracy and compliance.   Compensation, benefits & payroll Work with the SDMA HR Committee to ensure competitive and fair compensation practices. Provide guidance on salary administration, incentive programs, and benefits administration. Conduct salary reviews and market research to ensure the organization’s compensation practices remain competitive. Liaising with SDMA Finance / Payroll to ensure employee records, payroll changes and other relevant documents are entered into the relevant systems. Provide oversight and administration for benefit plans, as applicable   Role Requirements:   Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field 2 – 3 years of experience as an HR Business Partner or similar role. Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Culturally competent HR manager with an appreciation of the value of equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace Demonstrated ability to engage staff at all levels and to lead groups and facilitate group activities in a consultative and collaborative manner Skilled written and verbal communicator with strong negotiation, team building, conflict resolution and consensus building skills
