Summary of Duties: This role reports to the Manager, Decision Support and Advanced Analytics. As the successful candidate, you will interact and work closely with programs across the hospital to analyze, interpret, consult, present and make recommendations based on the best available data to support strategic planning, budgeting, restructuring, program optimization and quality initiatives. You will develop and lead departmental processes and initiatives to advance the goals and mandate of the Decision Support and Advanced Analytics department at Sunnybrook. You will help to build and promote the use of data, interactive BI tools, and advanced analytics in an exciting, fast-paced environment. You will provide concrete insights that will help programs with evidence-based decision making.   In this exciting role, you will: Work closely with Patient Care managers, Program Directors and other senior leaders to highlight key insights and drivers of performance for areas across the hospital. Perform aggregation and presentation of clinical administrative data to inform strategic planning and facilitate evidence-based decision making at the local and system level; report and interpret trending information associated with organizational targets for both internal and external stakeholders. Proactively demonstrate the value of business intelligence tools by automating manual processes and generating insightful dashboards that provide both broad and detailed overviews of program functioning; Participate in educating staff of all levels in how to use Decision Support’s suite of dashboards and reports. Apply a broad array of univariate and multivariate statistical and quantitative methods to better understand and explain patient flow and activities across the organization. Mentor more junior staff, provide education opportunities for all staff in how to use Decision Support data and tools when necessary. Evaluate and implement new technologies to streamline processes and enhance reporting (bots, machine learning, simulation, etc.) Prepare detailed documentation as required Perform corporate and program utilization and predictive analyses including trending, and prediction of clinical volumes and weighted cases.   Qualifications/Skills: Master’s degree or MBA in Health Information Management, Epidemiology, Statistics, Applied Math, or some other Health or quantitative related field is preferred (PhD an asset). Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional setting; Experience in a health care setting is preferred. Knowledge of Ontario’s health care system, the roles of different organizations at different levels of the system. Knowledge of key administrative data including DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, CCRS and NRS and associated case mix methodologies. Advanced knowledge of, or extensive experience with business intelligence tools (mainly Microsoft Power BI), SQL, Python. Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite of products (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Exceptional interpersonal, communication and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders across the organization. Experience in the use of statistical or financial information in a health care environment. Advanced problem-solving, and project management skills. Able to work with minimal supervision, manage own time, and prioritize projects. A team player with demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with all levels of hospital staff and physicians.
