We currently have a Temporary Part-time (0.45 FTE, until approx. January 2025) opportunity for a Clinical Pastoral Education Teaching Supervisor in the Allied Health Education department at our Bayview campus. Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; Days, 8 hrs; (with some flexibility Required) Summary of Duties: The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor-Educator will be a member of the Spiritual & Religious Care Team at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, reporting to the Professional Lead and Manager of Spiritual & Religious Care (Acute Care) with dotted line accountability to the Director of Interprofessional & Academic Education. In the context of Sunnybrook as an academic health sciences centre and member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network, the Supervisor-Educator oversees the Clinical Pastoral Education program and provides support related to the student experience (e.g. faculty development, student experience data review and related improvement initiatives). Supervision of the program will be in accordance with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) requirements. The CPE Supervisor-Educator will be instrumental in supervising and mentoring Spiritual Care staff as Provisional Supervisor-Educators in their pursuit of certification and as Sunnybrook looks to create a sustainable program. Qualifications/Skills Develops, implements and evaluates a CPE program in accordance with the standards established by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) Supervises and mentors Spiritual Care staff as Provisional Supervisor-Educators in their pursuit of certification and as Sunnybrook looks to create a sustainable program. Oversees the CPE program in accordance with CASC requirements. Ensures adherence to academic placement policies for relevant colleges/universities. Oversees the screening/interviewing, placing, monitoring and evaluating CPE students at Sunnybrook campuses in consultation with Professional Lead and Manager of Spiritual & Religious Care (Acute Care) and the Director of Interprofessional & Academic Education as needed Collaborates with CPE Supervisors from other organizations within the greater Toronto area to facilitate a coordinated effort in CPE Supports continuing education and updates related to the student experience for the Spiritual and Religious Care Professional Council (e.g. faculty development, student experience data review improvement initiatives) Supports program approval, and builds on past site accreditation to provide consultation and direction toward re-accreditation with CASC When learners not is session may contribute to supporting initiatives related to student education such as: ongoing professional development/skill acquisition opportunities for the professional council group, participating in research related activities, contributing to interprofessional education Approaches students in a learner-centered manner with insight, discernment, and flexibility. Fosters a learning environment of respect for diversity and cultural inclusion (multi-cultural, multifaith milieu) that supports diverse expressions of spirituality and faith Skillfully provides and seeks professional consultation with spiritual care colleagues and interprofessional colleagues Manages stress in the role of teacher and mentor and engages proactively in wellbeing strategies Participates in Spiritual & Religious care, CPE and/or CASC related committees including internal and external representation Qualifications/Skills: Masters Degree with relevant theological/spiritual studies from a recognized institution. Registered Psychotherapist able to offer clinical supervision and oversight of direct client contact hours toward College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario recognition. Two years experience as a CASC Certified Supervisor-Educator preferred. Current certification as a Supervisor-Educator by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC). Current membership in good standing in C.A.S.C.
