Job Description:

This role is within the Finance Function, supporting the Investment Solutions (Individual Wealth) business unit, which offers Canadians a diverse lineup of mutual funds, portfolio solutions and guaranteed investments, empowering them to pursue their financial goals at every life stage.

Reporting to the Director Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst, Sun Life Financial Trust (SLFT) will work independently and collaboratively with members of the Investment Solutions business unit, the Canadian Finance team, regulators, third party business contacts, and both internal and external audit teams to deliver on the accounting and reporting requirements for the Sun Life Financial Trust entity.

What will you do?

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements under IFRS for the Trust entity, including all note disclosures

  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly regulatory reporting requirements within established deadlines, including (but not limited to) Basel Capital Adequacy Reporting (BCAR)

  • Prepare journal entries, client statements and account reconciliations

  • Assist with regulatory, external and internal audits, by ensuring that requested supporting documents and explanations are provided

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly reporting packages and presentations for senior management and Board of Directors

  • Actively support the team in the day-to-day finance functions and support projects, and ad hoc requests

  • Assist with accounting and financial reporting for Individual Wealth business as needed

What do you need to succeed?

  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA) with 2-4 years of experience in financial services

  • Experience and knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting for Deposit-Taking Institutions

  • Experience in an SAP ledger environment

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage work to effectively meet deadlines

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Assets

  • Proficiency in Power BI, Power Query or Tableau

  • Continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to leverage technology to streamline or automate processes and create efficiencies

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
