Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Knowledge Management & Operational Training (Sun Life Financial Investment Services (Canada) Inc. - SLFISI), the Learning Consultant (LC) will be a key member of the Training Team, who works with various partners across the SLFISI, Retail Advice and Solutions and Sun Life in the design and development of learning programs for SLFISI stakeholders.
This individual will be working closely with the Learning Experience Design team to design, develop and deploy engaging learner centric training programs for our key stakeholders. The Learning Consultant will be required to collaborates with stakeholders, subject matter experts, training delivery experts, learning management system experts, and support teams to execute on the enablement strategy, and design approach appropriate to the context of each project. Successful integration of analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation activities using project management and effective communication skills contribute to sustaining and enhancing the quality of Learning and Development experiences.
What will you do?
- Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs), to manage the development of training programs, including materials such as online courses, software simulations, job aids, facilitator or learner guides, audio scripts, audio, video, interactive PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, and more.
- Drive business objectives and key results for training program/module to assess impact and track program success and trends.
- Provide program management support to the development and implementation of the training programs.
- Create and leverage high-level outlines and designs including performance objectives, and learning objectives to guide the instructional designer/developer in the development of the learning experience.
- Apply your knowledge of adult learning principles and modern learning tools and techniques to lead the design and development of clear, concise, engaging, effective and interactive learning experiences for advisors and leaders.
- Ensure that all components of design align and support the program’s learning objectives.
- Assist with training, support and guidance to instructional designers and support teams as required.
- Deliver training content in virtual, classroom, workshops, and other learning forums as required.
- Oversee the process for obtaining approvals of training materials, & continuing education credits etc. (for example PRP, legal and compliance reviews).
- Identify knowledge needs and help develop new or update existing knowledge (i.e., processes, procedures, etc.).
- Effectively manage timelines for assigned projects.
- Willingness to roll-up sleeves and support broader team as required.
What do you need to succeed?
- One to three years of Training experience.
- Experience supporting or working with Wealth Management Dealer and Field Organizations.
- Bringing a sense of urgency and instill the same a sense of urgency in others to driving outcomes.
- Ability to deal with significant ambiguity and constantly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and application.
- Experience with learning software and technology (asset).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Passion for service and helping others succeed.
- Proven ability to effectively give and receive feedback.
- Demonstrate initiative and innovation.
- Advanced skill with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

What will be nice to have:
- Adult Education certification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Wealth Management Industry.
- Experience working in an operations team.
- Possess understanding of project management principles.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
