Job Description:
The Financial Analyst will assist with annual planning, monthly forecasting and budgeting. They will be looked upon to provide strong analytical input and support with financial reporting including financial modelling and forecasting for one of GRS's main product segments. The successful candidate may also be engaged in the completion of important internal and external surveys and benchmarking activities.
What will you do?
Support the monthly and quarterly financial statement close process leading to quarterly AVP and VP sign offs.
Support the monthly and quarterly assets under administration (AUA) reporting.
Cashflow and Trust reporting including reconciliation and process improvements.
Support the Business Development team with various RFP’s.
Assist with timely and accurate monthly and quarterly report production, providing key input and analysis. May own the creation of several key outputs looked upon by management and leaders to help gauge expense or broader financial performance.
Investigate and effectively communicate issues with the creation and distribution of reports. Assist in the resolution of these issues.
Communicate and collaborate with key partners such as Canadian Finance, Expense Management, Savings Accounting, Pricing, Fund Operations, and others.
Develop and improve financial tools and reporting processes to support strategic initiatives and evolving reporting requirements.
Develop current competencies while showing leadership behaviors within the Reporting & Analysis team by:
Demonstrating an understanding of how the team and business area contributes to the business unit;
Uses basic knowledge of the business to address common and short-term business issues;
Seeks feedback from business partners and peers to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness; and
Begins to build general management knowledge and applies it to common business issues.
What do you need to succeed?
University degree with a major in Accounting or Finance
Nearing completion of/or completion of an accounting designation (CPA) with 3-5 years' experience in the finance field
Ability to summarize large amounts of data to isolate business drivers and articulate findings.
Advanced MS Office applications skills; (specifically Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
2+ years of experience with financial reporting systems and tools (e.g., SAP, AFO, Tableau)
2+ years of experience in the wealth management or insurance industry.
Ability to accurately communicate financial results.
Assets
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Understanding of Group retirement services operations, products, and services
Experience in a medium to large size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
